comForte provides extensive support of RFC 4217 for securing FTP

November 16, 2005

As of November 1, 2005, the internet draft for securing FTP with the TLS/SSL protocol has now been issued as a Standards Track RFC (see ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc4217.txt).

The standard ensures that FTP over TLS solutions from different vendors and on different platforms can cooperate seamlessly. The following comForte products support RFC 4217:

  • SecurFTP, an enterprise class secure FTP solution for HP NonStop, Windows and any Java enabled system. SecurFTP can add RFC 4217 support to any plain FTP solution

  • MR-Win6530, a Windows terminal emulation package with an integrated secure FTP client

  • J6530, a Java terminal emulation package with an integrated secure FTP client
